Technology review for mobile multimedia learning environments

Nowadays, the technological advancement in mobile devices has made possible the development of hypermedia applications that exploit their features. A potential application domain for mobile devices is multimedia educational applications and modules. Such modules may be shared, commented and further reused under other circumstances through the spatial interface environment of mobile devices. Towards this direction, this paper performs a review of existing hypermedia interfaces as well as related environments and their potential use in educational platforms for mobile devices. The review defines and compares features that should be supported by a mobile educational environment such as content representation and relations, spatial interface operations by using touch operations, sharing and annotation properties.
