Abstract

The Open Curriculum Community, OCC, is theoretically criticizing the role of experts in designing curriculum materials and establishes, at its basics, a free community where educators can individually or collectively design, critique, and share their curriculum products in an open and democratic community. This is a project that aims at redistributing the rights to curriculum planning to every educator and practitioner. This project is an online based community that provides tools and virtual spaces for curriculum development at all levels and for all ages. This project helps making locally and culturally oriented curriculum materials. By comparative analysis of the current trends of Open Access and MOOCs, the OCC can be considered a new trend as it offers a content-free tool that will support the locally-oriented curricula without being socially biased. The OCC is a project that finds ways of improving education in the developed or the developing world because it deals with the issues
