Abstract

Real time and time-shifted personal interactions that are mediated by digital means play an increasingly important role in higher education. But face-to-face interactions remain important. This paper gives an introduction to overall challenges for new educational format in the knowledge economy. With this as the background it summarizes a preliminary study on students perceived needs for feedback and formative evaluation in teacher education. We conclude that students are indeed able to engage further with digitized learning and more flexibility in terms of feedback structuration. But this paper also cautions against too radical departure from established ways.
