Abstract

This article examines the use of mobile devices for content production in preschool and primary education. It discusses 1) a design based study that was aimed to create viable practices for mobile content production for the everyday life of preschools and primary schools and 2) a scenario study conducted in a national ICT in Education conference, which examines the generalizability of the results from study 1. Based on the analysis of the interviews and the material produced in schools, we classify the use of mobile content production into three categories. The project included c. 60 pupils (n=60). Based on the scenario survey (n=32), it looks like teachers will continue to not document schoolwork with smartphones but it was seen as likely that the pupils will do it either independently or as guided activity.
