This research focused on how higher education practitioners working at different guidance levels can support ePortfolio work and what kind of guidance can be provided at different stages of studies. A further aim was to ascertain how ePortfolio guidance can support general areas of guidance support, or focus, and what forms of contact and distance education the portfolio guidance context best applies to. The research was conducted as a case study and the target group primarily consisted of people involved in guidance and counselling at a university of applied sciences. Research data was collected through a web-based survey and examined using deductive content analysis. The findings indicated that ePortfolio guidance is the responsibility of the entire educational organisation. It integrates with guidance foci and supports a student’s holistic growth. The critical stage of ePortfolio guidance is at the start of studies. At its best both individual and group methods are used in guidance.
