
Educational Hypermedia Applications: Design Based on Content Models

Abstract
The amount, complexity and diversity of educational hypermedia applications are a real challenge as regards to the development process of such applications. In an attempt to improve that process, this paper proposes the development of content models based on the types of contents, as well as by the standard extensible markup language (XML). The types of content are based on structured methods to design and developed courses. This paper shows how structured method and XML technology can be applied for a successful design of hypermedia documents components in the educational context. The models of content are designed with semantically explicit information in a well structured way, which is independent from the presentation. The article reports a research work in progress. It also offers a methodology to support the design.
