Abstract

The utility of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for professional development for educators is examined. A brief exploration of recent the literature related to connectivism and social learning theory is presented as a framework. Finally, a case is made for the use of connectivist MOOCs for virtual school teacher professional development as a way to encourage meaningful collaboration.
