Abstract
Preparing preservice teachers to integrate technology in their practice teaching experiences and beyond depends, in part, on how they see technology modeled throughout their teacher preparation program. Under ideal circumstances, preservice teachers would see technology being used in a variety of appropriate ways, both in their university coursework and in their clinical experiences. But how does a program reach this level of technology infusion? This paper describes the factors that have pushed us forward and held us back. These include typical barriers like access to technology and attitudes toward technology, and some unexpected help from the state legislature in the form of revised teacher licensing standards that require the use of technology. We will also discuss the methods we used to overcome resistance and make media selection and technology use part of everyone's vocabulary.
