Rita A. Hagevik, Ph.D., is the Graduate Director of Science Education in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She is the author of articles and a presenter of methodologies regarding sustainability, preservice teacher education, and STEM education. Dr. Hagevik is passionate about teachers participating in and creating their own scientific knowledge through the use tools such as geospatial technologies. Hagevik’s scholarship serves as a means of investigating how to prepare and support teachers and in the use technology tools as a means of educating the next sustainably literate society.
