Abstract

This study utilized a mixed method approach to investigate students’ views and experiences with the use of Blackboard in a web-enhanced graduate level research methods course. Participants of the study included 40 graduate students enrolled in research methods courses offered in the College of Education in a large midwestern university. The study examined the extent to which the Blackboard tools and activities included in the online component of the course were useful for student learning as well as the extent to which they provided opportunities for student engagement and interaction. The findings of the study provide implications for improving pedagogical approaches to optimize learning in web-enhanced courses.
