Abstract

In this paper the author, Chair of the Academic Technology Advancement Committee on her campus and professor of education, shares her dual experience of transitioning from one Learning Management System (Web CT) to another (Moodle). The paper explores lessons learned from two perspectives: that of the instructor employing emerging technology actively in blended and on-line courses and that of a faculty leader helping to shape campus technological policy. Given the rapid pace of innovation in educational technology, the approach discussed here of implementing and testing for the most appropriate choice represents an important model for decision making regarding upgrading to achieve best practices. Theoretical and practical implications are highlighted and discussed..
