Abstract

In order to encourage Japanese schools to practice digital storytelling, we created an iPad “Kumata” project for K-9 students. Our study focused on how K-9 students create a simple movie or a digital story with the iPad App “Kumata” at elementary and junior high schools in Japan. In particular, each student was able to create a simple movie in a short time, make a smarter presentation, and to share the movies each other. We found the “Kumata” project useful for Japanese students to learn English as a foreign language and to reflect on what they have learned.
