Abstract
Through the funding of a PT3 grant, the Pittsburg (Kansas) State University, College of Education, has designed and is implementing an online assessment tool to determine the technological proficiency level of pre-service teachers and university faculty. Two underlying principles have guided the development of this model: 1) it should be based on actual user performance; and 2) the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) should serve as the foundation for defining what learners and teachers should know and be able to do with technology. Experience a dynamic, online, diagnostic-prescriptive assessment program that interacts with learners, through simulation, to ensure all students demonstrate competence on 24 performance objectives.
