Abstract

The focus of this study was to explore the relationship between student-centered teaching and technology. Four teacher educators as well as the Director of Instructional Technology at a regional university in Texas were interviewed about their views of student-directed learning and instructional technology. Six major themes emerged from the interviews, teaching philosophy in action, balancing act between information sources, using technology to support and enhance learning, implementation of BYOD, obstacles to student-directed learning in higher education, and obstacles to student-directed learning in higher education.
