Abstract

Development of Future Online Faculty is a growing concern in distance education. A meta-analysis will be discussed in regards to the development of future online educators. Best practices will be discussed in what future development should look like. Development will look at technological and knowledge of online education. This article focuses on describing the training requirements for distance educators. Instructors vary in their level of experience with online learning. Training programs should be cognizant of this factor. Specific training requirements will be described for distance educators. Also, a discussion of the necessary knowledge and skills of distance educators will be explored. Lastly, training options to promote instructor satisfaction will be identified.
