Abstract

Abstract: This paper takes a look at the factors affecting teacher use of ICT in some Finnish schools. The analysis is based on information gathered by the Opeka-system during the spring 2013. The Opeka system is a questionnaire system about ICT usage of teachers that aims to distribute information gathered in the system to teachers, schools, municipalities and other stakeholders. In this paper we will describe some results about what things seems to be connected to the usage of ICT in schools. The results supported earlier studies and emphasized the role of competence and motivation of teachers. Also good resources with easy access improved usage of ICT at school. However the role management and leadership didn’t play a significant role in relation to teacher usage but it did predict student usage.
