Abstract

Abstract: Concepts of online learning like assessment of prior knowledge, asynchronous and synchronous learning, show and do master, and continuous feedback are important in a hands on, abbreviated training environment. Based on this, we created a training program that focused on forming a training relationship centered on mentoring while relying on content subject matter experts and learning design experts to train faculty.

The training program was for a second wave pilot with instructors who had not used the educational technology being tested. A member of Learning Design and Solutions (Instructional Designer) and Faculty Development (Faculty Training Specialist) were involved in an intensive 12 week training and mentorship of eight faculty members teaching in a pilot over a series of three summer sessions.
