Abstract
Qualitative analysis of a journal of six years of teaching the same university level course both online and in the classroom, forms the basis of this presentation. Moving beyond the foci of traditional research into online teaching, this presentation looks at the following questions: What is the nature of relationship that develops in online teaching and to what degree is relationship necessary or beneficial? What benefits arise from teaching the same course both online and in the classroom format? How does online teaching affect feelings about teaching? What kinds of personalities do online sections develop and why? How are specific teaching strategies affected by being used online? And, what is it like to maintain a living instructional system over a period of years with constant change in the delivery system of the course and in the content and process of the teaching.
