Abstract
The project Virtual University of Applied Sciences is a Flagship Project of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Twelve universities of applied sciences, two universities, federal employees' association, and businesses of seven federal states are involved in the development of the online - study courses Computer Sciences and Economic Engineering. The project includes the setup of a common organisation for corporate studies structures, basic works on technical, ergonomic and didactic fundamentals for about 60 courses within the study courses, the implementation of the study courses within the participating universities, comprising the instruction of the teaching personnel and the determination of quality criteria and evaluation procedures. The study course Computer Sciences started in October, 2001. First results are available now, and they show a good acceptance of the offering as well as several starting points for optimisation.
