Abstract
This paper will discuss the development of a content management system that is evolving to manage Learning Objects in a teaching scenario. To capture data at source, feedback mechanisms have been implemented that capture both lecturer and student knowledge whilst maintaining the knowledge in context. As multimedia and web design are domains delivered to students there is an opportunity to explore a wide variety of data types. Two factors influenced the development of an extensible content management system using database and Internet technologies. First a desire to improve the quality of content delivered to students and the need to capture and include the knowledge of students as both moderators and contributors. And second from an applied research perspective, a real application that allows the development of a generalized meta-data schema for divergent data types to be captured at the source.
