Starting the Process of Strategic Change in Staff C&IT Development

A project is underway at the Robert Gordon University that aims to establish a C&IT development strategy. This will start by surveying the existing C&IT skills of staff, prior to the implementation of a Virtual Campus initiative. The project will enable the identification of issues relevant to the introduction, adoption and uptake of C&IT in higher education during a time of strategic C&IT change within an institution. Current C&IT skills will be matched with the perceived set of skills required of them to contribute to the Virtual Campus initiative. This will be achieved via an obligatory questionnaire, and an expert Delphi event that will define and prioritise staff development needs. Other objectives include: v Reviewing applicability of software certification tools in the HE setting. v Identifying C&IT skill strengths and weaknesses across the Institution. v Trialing means of targeting skills development. Above is the project outline. The presentation will focus on discussing the initial project stages.
