Strategic Use of Digital Learning Resources in Designing E-Lessons

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out perceptions of the trainee teachers on the efficacy of the SchoolDNA learning management system. The 17-item questionnaire was designed to find out the perceptions of trainee teachers on two aspects of the system. The first aspect covers the perceptions on the features of the SchoolDNA and Lesson Builder and the second aspect deals with using Lesson Builder as an IT-based lesson planning tool. The data is analyzed using SPSS software. To describe the perception of trainee teachers on the use of Lesson Builder, descriptive statistics is used. The results suggest that trainee teachers perceived that the system as a whole has favorable features. Trainee teachers found positive aspects and the potential of the system. They believe that it is easy to navigate the system to create e-lesson and the classification of resources into subject is helpful to improve their lesson structure. They also indicated that the edit features is useful to improve their lesson structure. The existing resources available in the system fit in well with lesson objective since they are pre-selected in suit the local curriculum. (Contains 2 tables and 2 figures.)
