Abstract

How does learning shape the future of a nation? Who does learning really affect? The Cayman Islands Civil Service College is a collaborative learning approach between the University College of the Cayman Islands and Cayman Islands Government. The Civil Service College (CSC) has primary responsibility for the learning that occurs within the workforce. The Civil Service College aims to inspire learning, engage civil servants, and ensure professional success of civil servants through life-long learning. The CSC learning approach utilizes a competency-based learning model which goes beyond the traditional approach to education and academics and excites learners to pursue learning. Finally, as the excitement of learning permeates the largest employer of Caymanians, it filters through the household leading to an entire nation of learners spanning multiple generations.
