Abstract

This study presents three mathematics instructors’ teaching strategies and teaching experiences in an online environment. The instructors participated in three online graduate level mathematics courses at two universities in the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S. during the fall of 2010. Each instructor participated in one structured interview. Using open coding, the analysis of qualitative data revealed three instructors’ online teaching strategies, tools of the trade, teaching experiences, best of teaching, and their teaching styles. In addition, recommendations of professional development, technology for the future, and workload issues were discussed.
