
How Proficient University Teachers perceive to themselves in Information and Communication Technologies Management for Education: A Mexican National Public University Case

Abstract
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a descriptive study aimed to investigate what technological and technical proficiency level have university teachers from a developing country as Mexico. 100 university teachers, men and women, from a national public university in Mexico city participated. They were tested with instruments elaborated based in ICT international standards. They reported a moderate level in their ability for managing information and communication technologies, likewise as moderate knowledge in the legal, ethic, social, culture aspects related to the technology ´use, but a better knowledge in health and safety issues related to technology´ use. Also they manifested being moderately skill in telematics tools as Internet. There were no differences between women and men teachers in their reported technological proficiency level.
