This paper presents the Insula Europae project which has resulted in an e-learning portal. By making use of video, audio and animation, this interactive application presents various important aspects related to the European Union and, more particularly, to the History of European Integration, European Civic Education, and European Literature and Culture. It also presents the history of accession to the European Union of the six countries participating in the project – namely Italy, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Spain, Romania and Slovenia. Finally, the paper presents the evaluation of the portal by teachers and students of secondary/higher education institutions in Cyprus. The feedback obtained is currently utilised to improve the portal.
