Abstract

This paper proposes the use of 'Cognitive Object-Oriented Teaching Model' (Chang, 2005, 2006a, 2006b) as a way to enhance web-based teaching/learning via adaptive mechanism. COOTM conduct vertical and horizontal adaptive mechanism through teaching and learning processes to communicate top-down, button-up and cross network information processes. In COOTM, adaptation-in-depth (AID) mechanism are based on an educational knowledge base which involves the integration of knowledge from educational perspectives, psychology theories, teaching/learning strategies, processes, and information technology to divided and conquer the vulnerabilities of web-based education. Accordingly, COOTM uses the rules, and rule classes to obtain information and interactions to construct an adaptive and fault tolerance educational system.
