Abstract

Abstract: The world that our students live in continues to modernize and evolve at a rapid pace. To maintain pace with changes in technology, we tend to find a revolving door of new educational technology systems and initiatives with little evidence of success. This paper presents a three-pronged conceptual framework for developing a K-12 educational technology environment that promotes effective and sustainable use of monetary and operational resources. Following an exploration of the effects of educational technology investments, ever-changing technologies, and understanding of user needs, three areas of focus are presented to afford school administrators and educational technology managers with guidance and explanations to develop an effective and sustainable K-12 educational technology environment.
