Abstract

Abstract: This paper shares the experiences and insights gained from the revision of an Elementary Education program. Throughout 2013-15, the Elementary Education curriculum at Regis University was redesigned. The collaborative team responsible for this effort consisted of a faculty lead, an instructional design lead (ID) and designated course authors. The team created a new online program which became the foundation for the Elementary Education program that also includes ground-based coursework. The collaborative course development process which included curriculum mapping to ensure inclusion of several required standards is discussed. The specific examples shared in this paper are an overview of the curriculum mapping process, strategies that proved to be successful, and continuous improvement based on feedback received and insights gained from the pilot run of the courses.
