We present a collaborative language learning environment called Berlin Kompass, where two remotely located users communicate by speaking foreign language in the context of wayfinding tasks, one providing guidance to the other. The application is based on embodied interaction, while the physical setup of consists of two separate locations sharing an audio connection for two-way spoken communication. The route in the virtual environment consists of 360 degree panorama pictures. These panoramas have multiple exits the correct one must be taken to progress onward on the route. With this system look into new collaborative methods of foreign language learning using embodied interaction together with spoken communication. The application has been piloted in several schools.
