Abstract
Handheld technology provides school leaders with information, communication, and connections. Leaders can use that information and their own knowledge/skills to build relationships with a community of learners. When used well, handheld technology can strengthen leaders' ability to be informed, connected, and caring. Based on work from a Technology Leadership Grant from the Gates Foundation, this presentation provides insights on ways K-12 school leaders are integrating handheld technology into their leadership work over the past two years in Alaskan schools. Handheld technology allows leaders to bring relevant information to decision-making wherever it occurs. This presentation will share information and principles about how school leaders integrate handheld technology in their professional and personal lives. Information will be shared about other resources and an online course for school leaders.
