Abstract

Wiki have been promoted as collaborative writing tools in various educational settings. A large body of research exits on wiki-based collaborative writing in teacher education. However, the claim that wikis support collaborative writing has not yet been clearly confirmed, in spite of several studies reporting on successful experiences. This paper uses the wiki history log to collect data on students’ collaborative writing activities in teacher education. An evaluation instrument is used to analyze students’ individual and group contributions to the wiki, and timing of contribution as well. The work also reports on pedagogical implications for wiki-based collaborative writing in teacher education
