Abstract
In designing assessment tools in a multimedia environment, it is important for instructional designers to create pre-instruction in order to ensure valid assessment results. Students in the Educational Technology area learn instructional design and multimedia course development in class. Have they been taught the importance of pre-instruction design and how to design pre-instruction based on users' characteristics? This paper discusses how to design pre-instruction in a multimedia assessing environment based on users' characteristics through analyzing real-world examples to help students in this area enhance their design and development skills.
