Abstract

Pervasive technologies promise great potential in distance learning (DL). However as transformation a rise in DL set up as a result of these technologies, so does the challenges arise of: (a) applying sound pedagogical foundation in applying these technologies and (b) addressing the issue of learner diversity that has been further broadened by the mobility, dynamism and heterogeneity characteristics of these technologies. The fundamental concern is how to efficiently cater for the learner diversity within a solid pedagogical foundation while tapping into the full potential of pervasive technologies. In order to address this concern, there is need for proper integration of pedagogy and technology to be achieved. Therefore, this paper proposes a framework that provides a platform for the integration of pedagogy and technology. This could provide a well-rounded educational experience as well as cater for the diverse learner needs in a pervasive DL environment
