Abstract

The development of learning environments is a key responsibility of educators. The greater dependence upon learning management systems in educational organizations has had a significant impact on how learning environments are conceived and developed. This paper will explore the development of learning environments that are not shaped by artificial constraints. The paper will draw on information systems and cognitive psychology literature that informs the development of effective learning environments. Implications for course development and delivery tools are described.
