Abstract

This paper describes a new initiative in an ongoing project to embed web-based molecular visualizations in pedagogically effective modular virtual learning environments (VLEs). The VLEs will support independent student learning, provide actionable instructor feedback and support accelerated learning in a number of major areas of STEM education: Biochemistry, Chemistry and Material Sciences. We will describe how we are now integrating Jmol more closely with the advanced assessment platform provided in the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) environment.
