While most learning technologies on HIV/AIDS prevention aim at the delivery and accessibility of relevant and timely information, affective learning requires tools that allow one to comprehend, analyze, apply and evaluate information related to the disease. In a case study carried out in southern Tanzania, secondary school students utilized computers to represent the facts, misconceptions, emotions, and fears they had on the issue. A model was developed for analyzing the digital artifacts compiled by the students. The analysis together with interpretations of records in the teacher’s diary indicate the feasibility of using ICT for enabling culturally meaningful learning experiences about HIV/AIDS in the context of a developing country.
