This paper introduces the courseware template design of an online training program for K-12 in-service teachers in the rural area in Shanghai, China. The online training program is a part of the “Shanghai New Rural Teachers Training Project.” The purpose of this program is threefold: 1) help improve K-12 rural teachers’ teaching strategies, 2) update their subject area knowledge and skills, and 3) use new instructional materials. The paper focuses on the design of a courseware template which functions as a course builder to interact with the course management system.
