Abstract

Many people attribute Henry Ford with the saying, “If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.” Unfortunately, many eLearning students get what they have always gotten because their online courses are not designed to promote engagement and interaction. This presentation will demonstrate how one “do it like I’ve always done it” instructor rethought methods by which she presented her content and evaluated student learning in her online course. This instructor discovered the importance of incorporating interactive and vibrant technologies, such as Video Everywhere, Google Earth, Mindomo, Glogster/Smore, and others, that are available through one learning management system and free software online. By integrating the many technological opportunities available today, instructors from most disciplines can create an engaging environment that ushers students into the modern world of eLearning.
